1. What is injection mold and injection molding?

In injection molding, a mold is a set of metal device composing usually of a "mold base" and one or more "cavities". A carefully engineered mold base anchor and house the more delicate cavities safely to ensure the production efficiency and product quality. The cavities are outlined to the exact specifications of the needed product, and in which the molten plastic is forced and hardens. The cavities are situated in the mold base. Since molds have been expensive to manufacture, they were usually only used in mass production where thousands of parts were being produced.
Injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts from both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. Material is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold cavity where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the mold cavity. The mold then opens and the newly formed part is removed and inspected, ready for shipment or secondary manufacturing operations. Injection molding is the most popular form of molding and widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from the smallest component to entire body panels of cars.

2. What types of materials we choose to produce?

We are capable of manufacturing all customized products with various of plastic materials applicable in molding .And usually, we will take both customers’ requirements and general criteria such as, product properties, operation environment, product life and so on into consideration before taking into manufacturing. Here we list all the materials below. Click the link for more details about each material.

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)        AES (Acrylonitrile Ethylene Styrene)
AS (Acrylonitrile Styrene)                           ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate)
PA (Polyamide)
                                          PC (Polycarbonate)
PE (Polyethylene)
                                      PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)
PP (Polypropylene)                                    PS (Polystyrene)
PSU (Polysulfone)                                      PUR (Polyurethane)
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)                            SAN (Styrene Acrylonitrile)
SAS (Styrene Acrylonitrile Silicone)            TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer)
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)             POM (Acetal)
PMMA (Acrylic)

3. What steel materials we have used ?

The type of mold steel we often choose will vary according to plastic parts materials and life if our customers have no specific requirements on steel specifications or its origin place. Usually, LongJi is our primary supplier of metal steel and please click on www.LKM.com.hk as you please. Certainly we will use mold steel conforming with our customers’ requirements if any. In addition, we are capable of purchasing a variety of mold steel originated from different countries, click the following links, and you may check the performance of steel and steel products.

4.What standards we follow to manufacture mold and what standard parts we use at present?

Generally speaking, we are manufacturing and designing in light of international standard. Since our sales range covers the whole global, we introduce different mold standards to meet all customers’ requirements .And our mold standard parts including DME; HASCO; LKM; MISUMI; PANCH; RABOURDIN; AGATHON etc.

5.What kinds of plastic parts we can afford to manufacture? What's the maximum size? What's the maximum weight of plastic part?

Our products not only include those shown in pictures but also many others since we specialize in Custom Plastic Injection Molding and Mold Making, we are competent in manufacturing designated products exactly in line with our customers’drawings and requirements. The maximum size of our plastic injection molding parts is 2000X1500X1500mm, and the maximum weight of plastic part comes up to 8000 grams.

6,What's two shot mold?

Ascend Mold is one of the earliest Factories in China mainland. With good techniques in designing and manufacturing, we’re proficient in producing various double injection products. Ascend has many double injection machines with clamping forces varying from 125tons to 380 tons, which enables us to make injection products with double or more colors with different methods, for example, rotating core plate or the moveable plate of the injection machine. The double injection products include double buttons, double remote controllers (with the same ABS+ABS materials) and also those with different materials, like TPE, TPR or other flexible materials wrapping the hard surface part. Thus, it endows the products with more attractive appearance, good tactility and slip-proof performances. Such as double injection handles (ABS+TPR), double injection instrumental shell (ABS+TPR), double injection windows (PMMA+TPE) are widely applied in fields of automotive, home appliances, electronic, medical equipment and telecommunication. What’s more, most of our products are exported to Europe, Americas and other countries.

7,What's the over molding?

It's a way of injection molding method with two or more sets of molds. It enables two or more materials with different colors or different performances to form together. In addition, these materials can be plastic, metal, rubber or any other. Products manufactured with this method are excellent in countenance, durability and processing. The product shown in the following picture is a typical case of the over molding.
The first step contains three equal procedures: molding lens with injection material PC, tooling the key with stainless steel, casting the clasp with zinc casting materials.
And then place the joint key and clasp into an injection molding machine to mold the cover with PC + ABS material.
Finally, with the same method in the previous step, put the joint lens and cover into another set of machine to mold key-press with TPU materials and it's completed.

8,What’s the price differential between our molds and those made from Europe and Americas?

It depends. Usually, our prices vary from 20% to 50% lower than theirs. And the average is 30% with freight included. Maybe you could get some much lower quotation from our follow traders but what we have to mention is “you pay for what you get”.

9,What are Ascend’s advantages in mold industry?

With highly-qualified staff, advanced processing and testing equipment and rich know-how experiences, we always offer our customers most competitive prices. In addition, we’re at the service to provide you with complete solutions for molds and perfect strategies for project management.welcome to visit our company in your convenience, Seeing is believing.
